Looking for a fan but have no idea where to start? We’re here to help!

Introducing, the Raven!

Raven Ceiling Fan

With so many fans on the market, it can be tricky trying to narrow down what to buy, what colour to go for, what size to choose. By the end of this article, not only will you be armed with all the knowledge, but you’ll probably be heading over to Lights2you to get your hands on the New Raven ceiling fan.

#1 Sizing:
Fans come in various sizes but so do the spaces they go in, so where do you start?

The Raven is available in 46 inches, 52 inches and 64 inches. 52 inches being the most common size but there are definitely some guidelines on what should go where;

#2 Colour:

The Raven comes in White, Black and Walnut with Black. Choosing what colour to go with comes down to a couple things;

  • White is great for smaller spaces as it won’t overwhelm the area and can make the area look larger than if you were to use a darker fan.
  • White is great if you want the fan to blend in rather than being a focal point.
  • Black and wood finishes are great to tie in colour schemes as well as being feature pieces.
  • Black and wood finishes are great in large areas to add some contrast and depth to the spac

If you are looking for a fan more so for aesthetic reasons, you can go bigger than recommended and even put it off center in a large space to create the feel of a separate spaces.

Now that we have that out of the way, let me tell you a bit more about the Raven.

The Raven is a DC motor fan that comes with a slim and attractive remote that has 5 speeds. One of the bonuses with the fan speeds is that it has night mode, which is a super low speed for those whoRaven Remote love having the fan on at night but hate waking up freezing! As with most fans these days, the Raven is Summer/Winter reversible and because of the ABS construction, it’s suitable for indoor and covered outdoor areas. The Raven is also the only fan that comes with two rod sizes in the box, a 5 inch and a 10 inch so that you can have it shorter or longer depending on what your needs are. For those who need a longer drop, you can also purchase a 900mm down rod.

Another big bonus with the Raven is that it has a separate light kit. That means, if you require a light and if for some reason the light dies (unlikely but can happen), you don’t need to throw the whole fan away! You can just change the light kit which is a lot cheaper than replacing the whole thing. The light itself is a bright 24w LED, that is dimmable as well as tri colour (warm white, cool white and daylight) all controlled via the remote! Having a light on the fan is useful for many reasons but one of the reasons you may not think about is that if you have downlights in the same room, you may encounter strobing depending on the number of downlights and the placement. Having a fan with light means that with your light on, there is now an even light distribution so that eliminates the strobing.
Being a DC fan, your energy consumption is a lot lower than that of an AC fan (up to 70% less!), which always helps when it comes to bill time am I right? It also means that the fan is silent which is especially perfect for those who are light sleepers or those who just generally don’t like hearing the fan when it’s in use.

Fans, like lights are always a subjective choice especially with the large variety available on the market, but having the right knowledge and information means you will always be making a good choice.
