Ceiling fans have evolved so much in the past couple years as well as in the past few months.

Timber/plywood fans and metal fans were the go to for people looking to keep cool but now ABS has completely taken over.

Timber/Plywood fans are known to attract a lot of dirt and dust as well as the blades ‘wilting’ over time especially in high moisture areas or if cleaned with anything damp, whilst metal fans are incredibly noisy. ABS fans not only stay cleaner but they can be used indoors and outdoors as can be cleaned easily as they don’t absorb moisture. They also don’t wilt and all our ABS fans have lights that are built in rather than taking globes so you get an even spread of light, it’s brighter and of course the hassle of changing globes is non existent.

Once you decide on going with an ABS fan you then also have the choice of AC or DC. The only real differences between them that you will notice is energy consumption and how they are controlled. DC fans are more energy efficient than AC fans so if you’re looking at saving money on your electricity bill then maybe a DC fan is for you. The other major difference is that DC can ONLY be used with a remote whereas AC can be used with a remote OR a wall switch.

There are even fans now where you can change the colour temperature of the light between 3000k (warm white), 4000k (cool white) and 5000k (daylight)!

ABS fans really are the go to now and they are incredibly affordable. Come in store and have a browse at our extensive fan range on display!
