Home & Lighting Trends for 2013

Here are a few Lights2you styling tips for 2013 and some up and coming trends to look out for...

  • Colour Trends- Don’t be afraid to add a splash of colour to a room. The ‘it’ colours for 2013 are greens and blues and will stand out best against a variety of white and beige colours. By introducing a colourful Table Lamp to a gentle colour toned room, you can add a touch of flare and style that is simple yet eye catching.

  • A Combination of Modern and Classic Pieces- In 2013, we predict that trendy interiors will have a combination of both modern and classic pieces. Furniture from a variety of decades will come together to create an elegance that is tastefully considered. To achieve this look, try and stick to a clear theme such as soft lines, a beach house look, or country style. Try and steer clear of any ultra modern pieces as they will quickly date and shorten the stylish lifespan of a room.

  • Loving Pendants- Pendant lighting has become increasingly popular over the past few years and we are predicting that in 2013, pendants will again be a must have in any trendy room. Pendants add a new dimension to a space and are a great way to highlight an area of a room. Our pendant tips for 2013 is to be bold with colour and don’t be afraid to hang a low pendant somewhere unexpected, like in the corner of a room along with a classic armchair for a stylish reading nook.

  • Energy Efficiency- With energy bills constantly on the rise, for many Australians, energy efficiency will be high on the agenda when purchasing lights. LED lights are the most energy efficient lighting product on the market and have taken the world by storm and in 2013 we predict that LED Lighting will count for 90% of lighting sales Australia wide.

  • Chandeliers- Crystal Chandeliers are available in a variety of sizes and styles and in 2013 we predict that modern Chandeliers will be used in new and exciting ways. Try adding a Crystal Chandelier to a modern bathroom for a luxurious and tasteful feel. Also, try adding a round Crystal CTC above a round glass table for a cohesive & expensive look that will sparkle twice as much from the reflection of the crystal on the glass.
