Why LED Filament Globes Are A Must Have

Filament globes are the latest lighting accessory to improve any light fitting by giving a gentle warm glow that replicates the funky filament look

What’s old is new again and filament globes have become the must have globe in the latest pendants and table lamps. Most pendants these days have an exposed bulb and only now do we finally have the option to ‘accessorise’ our pendants with an LED filament globe (LED fancy globes). The upgrade in carbon filament globes to an LED version has been a much needed improvement. The LED fancy globe replicates the funky filament look and the globe itself is improved in every aspect. The LED fancy globe is expected to last up to 100 times longer than a carbon filament globe and is also 90% more energy saving.

The LED fancy globe looks best in simple pendant lights and table lamps. Because the globe itself is such a feature it will complement simple, sleek, modern pendants and add a beautiful warm light source. The L2-1648 Pendant is a great example of a pendant that looks best with a fancy globe; in fact it is the fancy globe that actually makes this pendant look attractive. If you were to put just any ordinary globe in this pendant it would take away from the simple design of the fitting.

The L2-5290 Timber Table Lamp displays the funky LED lamp in a creative and unconventional way that relies on the funky look of the globe to carry the lamp itself. Shown in the product image of this fitting is an L2u-333 25w Fancy Pear Globe and the equivalent LED upgrade being the 4w Pear LED Lamp, however any shape LED filament globe would work well. Many of our table lamps are traditionally with a base and shade, and so if a filament lamp is covered with a shade then there is really no point in using this globe. It is only when then globe is exposed and not covered by a shade that the fancy globes should be used in a table lamp as a feature.

Coach Lights such as the L2U-4259 IP44 Coach Light will also look wonderful with an LED filament globe. Coach lights are very traditional exterior fittings that work really well with the warm filament globe. Because the globe is generally exposed in coach lights the globe you choose can either compliment the fitting or detract from the fitting. The fancy globe keeps with the traditional look of this fitting and provides a beautifully gentle warm light.
